- Jim Besemer Added 08/10/2017★ ★ ★ ★ ★The Skibbereen Heritage Center is a must-see stop in County Cork. Terry Kearny is an expert and co-author of a book about the Great Famine. Her short tours through the center's exhibits describes in detail how the famine began, how it impacted working-class Irish and how Skibbereen played a big part in trying to help its victims. The tour had a profound effect on me. And Margaret, the resident genealogist, is the most helpful, knowledgeable and amazing person. She helped my wife find long-lost distant relatives who lived a short distance from the Heritage Center.
